Mathew Aaron Campbell was born in 1992 in Deep South Texas. His musical training started at the age of 8 when he took piano lessons followed by learning how to play drumset. His studies continued through middle school and high school with percussion as his primary instrument. During middle school and high school, Mathew received many awards for performing at the regional and state levels in percussion. During his collegiate education at The University of Texas at Brownsville, he studies percussion with professor Dr. Joe Moore III. However, he became interested in music composition in the early semesters of college. Through the collaboration with many professors, his passion for composing and conducting led to premieres with various student ensembles at the state and national levels. He has premiered works at The National Flute Convention in 2013, the Texas Music Educator’s Conference in 2015, and he premieres works at UTB on a semester basis. He continues to compose and conduct music and plans to study these disciplines in graduate school.
